WEATHER IN SOUTH.

FINE DAY AT SUNIOIK.

CROWDS OX THE BEACHES.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)

DUN EDIN, Wednesday,

The weather for the holiday to-day was beautifully line, and large crowds travelled, to the various beaches. The Macandrew Bay regatta attracted a large gathering, and sports at Karitane also proved a big attraction. Racegoers made the Dunedin jockey Club's racea at Wingatui their goal, and the city bore a rather deserted appearance. ~

RAIN IN WELLINGTON. WELLINGTON, Wednesday. After splendid weather yesterday rain fell to-day, and caused the postponement of a beach carnival at Petone, the Caledonian sports at the Basin Reserve, the Wahine's excursion Marlborough Sounds and the bowling tournament.
