PLANT IN AUSTRALIA.
Chemical Company's Big Plan.
FOB AMMONIA NITRATES.
(Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, December 19. An authoritative statement may be made soon in connection with the reported intention of Imperial Chemical Industries, Ltd., to establish a £5,000,000 plant in Australia to manufacture synthetic ammonia nitrates. A director of the-concern, Mr. Todhunter, is now in Australia investigating the project and he is authorised to make his own decision on the spot. Inquiries have elicited that the company regards Australia as one of the world's biggest fields for chemical development. It looms large in the mind of Lord Melchett, formerly Sir Alfred Mond, who is interested in a scheme of migration.
