NORTHERN MAIN HIGHWAY.
IMPROVEMENT AT XAHO, LOAN PROPOSAL CARRIED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANOAREI, this day. By 76 votes to three the ratepayers of the Kamo Town Board district yesterday decided to borrow £1060 for main highway reconstruction. Less than one-half of those on the roll recorded their votes. The loan is required to provide the Kamo Town Board's share of the cost of the proposed reconstruction in penetrated bitumen of the main Wh&ngareiKawakawa highway through the town district from the borough boundary to the Ruatangata Springs railway crossing for a width of 18ft. The Main Highways Board has agreed to subsidise the work at the rate of £3 for £1. The Public Works Department has arranged to undertake the work.
