WHOSE THE BLAME?
MOTORISTS OR TRAM DRIVERS FREQUENT COLLISIONS. TOO MUCH SPEED, OR TOO LITTLE? (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) CHRISTCHUECH, this day. "Either the trams go too fast or the motor drivers are not careful enough. Half the "tram accidents are concerned with motor cars," said Mr. J. A. Flesher at a meeting of the Christchurch Tramway Board, when it was reported that of 21 tram accidents in October ten were collisions with motor cars. "The trams are all right," declared the chairman, Mr. John Wood. "The motorists are careless." Mr. W. Hayward: I beg your pardon! "Motorists are too careless," repeated Mr. Wood. "Thank you," returned Mr. Hayward. (Laughter.) Mr. W. J. Walter considered that motors were driven too fast, and trams not fast enough.
