MINING NEWS.
MAHAKIPAWA GOLDFIELDS. Rumours having been in circulation that the company was nearing the end of its financial resources, the directors state that such is not the case, the fmaucial position of the company quite satisfactory. It has also been freely stated that the pumps and motors imported by the company for keeping the mine fveo. of water were a failure. This also, the directors state, is contrary to fact. It is naturally to be expected that minor set-backs will occasionally occur, but on the whole the pumps have worked well, and at the present time are giving every satisfaction and are in first-class order. One of the directors recently visited the mine, and reports that all plant is satisfactorily working. The pumps have recently been tested by the Power Board, and found to be in perfect order.
