FANCY DRESS DANCE.
A children's fancy costume dance was held at Birkenhead on Saturday in the K.A.O. Buffaloes Hall. This proved a most successful and enjoyable function, dancing and games being indulged in, afternoon tea being then served, and every child received a bag of sweets. Songs were sung by Miss Jean Waller. The children's parade to the hall in Mokoia Street from Hauraki Street was a pretty sight. The arrangements were carried out by a committee, comprising Mesdames J. Gracie (organiser), S. Carson, R. E. Walker, J. Mahoney. I. C. Gully, W. Davidson, Percy Roebuck, Menzies, Davenport, M. Swinburne and H. Boardman. The awards of the judges, Meslames Frank Newbold (Auckland) and W. Butler (Birkenhead) were as follow: Tiny Tots.—Best dress, Patty Davies [flower girl) and Peter Davenport (elf); iome-mado paper dress, Elva Harkin [Yates' seed): poster, Betty Brown [Thompson, Hills, Limited) and R. Bur»ess (Bon Bon); original, Joyce Palbridge (Indian girl) and Elaine Kelly (tin soldier). Five years to tor —BestIressed girl and boy, Florence Ivialioney ind Kirk Loggie (bride and bride-p-oom); home-made paper dress, Verona 3alt (ox-eye daisy), and Christopher Paltridge (Red Indian); poster, Audrey Pike (chocolates) and Clifford Fitzgerald (Champion flour); original, S. Sastie (hatter) and Jennie Burgess (vegetable vendor).
