FAT STOCK MARKET.

Alfred Buckland and Sons, Ltd., report: To-day at our weekly Westfield fat stock market we penned fat cattle to the number of 496 head, as against 334 head at last Wednesday's sale, comprising 264 steers and 234 cows and heifers. The entry included many drafts of heavy prime cattle, and these suffered a drop of about 30/ per head. Several r .ns of choice quality lightweight steers eold at up to £2 3/ per 1001b. Extra choice ox sold to £2 3/ per 1001b; choice and prime ox, £1 17/ to £2 2/; ordinary and plain ox, £1 15/ to £1 17/; prime young cow and heifer beef. £1 15/ to £1 17/; ordinary cow beef, £7 10/ to £1 14/; extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £17 to £18 15/; heavy prime steers, £15 to £16; lighter prime steers, £13 10/ to £14 17/6; light prime steers, £12 to £13 7/6; unfinished and small, £9 to £11 17/6; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £12 to £13 10/; heavy prime young cows and heifers, £10 to £11 17/6; lighter, £8 to £9 17/6; other cows, £5 15/ td £7 17/6; £18 15/ was obtained for steers from Puru, and were bought by Mr. Thomas Basten, Ponsonby Road. The two first prize two-year-old steers at the Waikato Show realised £20 15/ each, and were bought by the Auckland Meat Company.

Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report on to-day's Westfield sale as follows:— Beef: A very heavy yarding of ox beef came forward, for which competition was limited, and as a consequence the market showed a decline. Prime heavy bullocks showed a drop of about 40/ per head. Light weight prime bullocks did not show such a sharp drop, and were more in demand. Cow beef was yarded in larger numbers than usual, and here again a drop in values was recorded. Extra choice ox was sold to 43/ per 1001b; prime young cow and heifer beef, 35/ to 37/ per 1001b. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report:—To-day beef was penned in larger numbers, and as a consequence values w«re easier by 10/ to 15/ per head. Extra choice ox sold to £2 3/ per 1001b; choice and prime ox, £2 to £2 2/; ordinary and plain ox, £1 16/ to £1 19/; prime young cow and heifer beef, £1 15/ to £1 17/; ordinary cow beef, £1 12/ to £1 14/; heavy prime steers, £15 to £16 10/; lighter prime steers, £13 10/ to £14 15/; light prime steers, £12 to £13 7/6; unfinished and small, £9 10/ to £11 15/: extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £12 to £12 15/; heavy prime young cowb and heifers, £10 to £11 15/; lighter, £8 to £9 15/; light cows, £6 15/ to £7 17/6; other cows, £5 10/ to £6 12/6.
