SERIOUS CHARGES
ARREST AT WHANGAREI. REMAND TO DARGAVILLE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day. Frederick Thomas Kelly May, a young man, was charged before Messrs. J. S. Dent and H. H. Curtis, justices, at the Whangarei Police Court this morning, with stealing at Waiotira a diamond ring valued at £4 10/ and a cheque form; and at Okaihau stealing a bicycle and committing rape. The a'eged offences all were stated to have occurred on November 19. On the application of the police accused was remanded to appear at Dargaville on November 29.
