Alexander Mines.—The report for October i states that the Bull Reet Crosscut has been extended for 48ft, making the total distance from the surface 88ft. A reef track carrying a few inches of stone in places has been passed through. The country is still favourable for stone In £«ce. Surface prospecting has been carried on and a new reef outcrop discovered about midway between Downey'? and the McVicar blocks of stone. The work carried out has been exposing this lode by trenches showing stone of 110 ft in leiijrth on the surface, from 3 to lift wide, Tilth neither end showing. Gold has been seen in the stone and samples taken show parable values. Another reef outcrop has been discovered about a chain to the westward, but running on a different bearing to the previous lode. Where exposed in two trenches the reef is about 3ft wide, the only sample taken giving highly payable values, stone on which no work has been done is showing on the surface about ffOft to the eastward of the south end of Loftus Beef. This stone will be trenched and values proved later on; line gald can be got by panning. Thirty-live chains of bush have been felled and a walking track cleared of fallen bush for a considerable distance. This portion of the work will soon be completed when the erection of the aerial can be proceeded with. The framework for the main buildings of the battery was completed and Is ready to receive the roof as soon as the Iron arrives. The concrete foundations for the mortar blockh have been placed in position and the blocks have been got ready. A start has been made to erect the storage bins for ore at tekttom of aerial tramway. The final clean up of the cyanide plgnt took place for a return of 58oss lodwts from SO tons treated, estbfeated value/ &IT4.
