LOCAL BODIES.

MOUNT EDEN.

The Mount Eden Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor (Mr. E. H. Potter) presiding. Building Permite.—The building inspector reported that during October building permits of a total value of £16,744 were leeued, inclusive of seven houses, valued at £5200, and 16 flats valued at £8000. Nicholson Park.—A report was received etafcing that new tennis courte at Nicholson Park had been completed, and that the levelling of a bowling green was in progress. Potter'e Park.—The Kakamai Girl Guides were granted the use of tennis courts at Potter'e Park.

GLEN EDEN TOWN BOARD. The fortnightly meeting of the Glen Eden Town Board was held last evening. Chairman, Mr. W. Martin. Members present: Messrs. G. H. Ambler, F. S. Lane, A. J. Routley, W. F. Rosier, and the town clerk. Post Office.—A letter was received from Mr. H. G. R. Mason, M.P., stating tbat the Government bad decided not to accept Mr. Routley's section on the corner of Valley Road and West Coast Road as a site for a new poet office, as arrangements had been made with the railway re a site. Noxious Weeds.—lt was reported by the Noxious Weeds Inspector that 52 notices to residents in Glen Eden to destroy npxious weeds, had been issued.

The finance committee presented a report showing that the bank overdraft had been reduced from £1090 to £1603. Works.—A letter was received from a resident in Woodlands Road offering to provide pipes at the entrance to his property, if the board would supply labour. It was pointed out that the onus was on the resident to pu tin the pipes himself. It was decided to ntillee unemployed labour in the district to clear gorse in front or the town board reserve.
