MOUNT EDEN DRAINAGE.
DISPOSAL OF STORM WATER.
£10,000 SCHEME PROPOSED,
A scheme to prevent flooding in portions of the Mount Eden district, the estimated cost of the work being £10,000, was presented at a meeting of the Mount Eden Borough Council last evening by the engineer (Mr. J. Rogers).
The engineer stated that flooding periodically occurred at Dominion Road, between Prospect Terrace and Ewington Avenue; also at a portion of Milton Road. It was proposed to have a truck drain from the main drain now being constructed at Parrish Road, laid through private property adjacent to the borough boundary, intersecting Elizabeth Street, Paice Avenue, King Edward Street, and Burnley Terrace, thence following Cromwell Street, Bellwood Avenue, Dominion Road to the lower end of Valley Road. There was at present no outlet for flood waters which collected at a portion of Milton Road, and it was proposed to provide a drain via Grange Road and King Edward Street, to connect with a trunk drain. He recommended that tenders should be called for the work in three sections. The Mayor (Mr. E. H. Potter) stressed the need of completing the drainage of the district, and the matter was referred to the Works Committee.
