ELLERSLIE TRAINING NOTES.
THIS MORNING'S WORK.
Fine weather prevailed for the work i at Ellerslie this morning, but a strong southerly wind made matters rather unpleasant*. No. 2 grass track was open and two-year-olds were # allowed to gallop on the course proper, one trestle out from the rails. No. 2 Grass Track. King Emerald and Eager Rose were the first to work, traversing a round in 1.53 3-5, without being required to do their best. Golden Wedding strode over eix furlongs easily in 1.22,1-5. Gold Money ran home from the halfmile post in 525. She did her work well. Lomint, who is looking much improved, was not doing her best to run six furlongs in 1.19 2-5. Jolly Money ran home from the four furlong peg in 525. Norval Tea and Critique sprinted three furlongs in 41 l-ss, Miss Myrtle completing a similar task in 40 4-ss. Tβ Money and Zane Grey sprinted four furlongs in 52 3-ss. The former, who was on the outside, appeared to be going the better at the finish. Bed Lion defeated Mon Star in a half-mile task, which took 52 l-ss.
Double Mint and Importer were companions over a round, running the distance in 1.48 1-5. There was little between them when the post was reached, and they both went well. From a standing start Monetize finished in front of Bulplo over five furlongs, running the distance in 1.5. Corinax and The Lover both commenced slowly over a round, registering 1.52 2-5 for the journey, the last six furlones occupying 1.22. Avoncourt was a shade in front of Sir Mond, with Winsome Boy several lengths back at the end of five furlongs in 1.5 1-5. Diamond Queen finished in front of Lido over a similar journey in 1.6. Bizarro was too good for Template on the completion of a Tound in 1.49 3-5. Valsier finished in front of Master Clements over a six furlong journey in 1.18 4-5. Pekatahi did strong work over a mile and a-quarter, running the last four furlongs in 575. The Thorn was allotted useful worlc, but was not after time. The Course Proper. Pure Tea sprinted a couple of furlongs down the straight, moving very freely. Gemlight, Praetor and Catoma were sriven a run along from the three furlong poet, and completed their task in 43e without being unduly hurried. They finished in the order named. Catoma, a full-brother to Lomint and Chamour, : was havinsr his first fast work, and looks like upholding the family reputation. The Jumpers. . Salamander (Jones) cleared a couple of pony hurdles safely, and afterwards negotiated two of the larger ones. He rapped one of the latter fairly hard. Abbot's Delight (L. Dulieu) was sent over four schooling hurdles. He knocked the second over, otherwise his display was satisfactory.
