SHEEPSKINS IN DEMAND. I A better feeling was expected at the auetio nof hides and ekine this afternoon in the Chamber of Commerce Hall, Swanson Street. There was good competition for sheepskins, and lines -were knocked down at a slight advance upon prices obtainable a fortnight ago. Hides did not ehow similar improvement, and a number of lots were paseed in. Following are to-day's quotatione: — Sheepskins.—Dry: Halfbved 15Vfcd per ]'b, fine crossbred 13d to 14d per lb, half to threequarter wool 9d per lb, quarter wool 9d per lb, lambs 12% d per lb pelte 9d per lb. Salted.—Bestr 9/ to 11/ each, good 9/6 each, half to threequarter wool 6/6 each, lambs 4/1 each, pelte 3/ each. Hides. —Extra heavy ox 10% d per lb, medium 9d per lb, light 10d per lb, heavy cow per lb, medium 9d per lb, light 9d per lb, yearlings 9%d per lb, beet calf 15d to 16d per lb, good 10d to 14% d per lb. Tallow. —Best mixed £31, medium £28 poor £18 to £22 ton.
