SHOT TO KILL.

POLICE ADMISSION.

17 Aboriginals And Two Women

Slain.

NO AIDS FOR WOUNDED.

(Received 11.30 a.m.)

DARWIN, this day.

In the murder trial concerning the death of Frederick Brooks who was killed by natives in Central Australia, both Aboriginals were acquitted and discharged.

Constable Murray, in his evidence, said that while in pursuit of the natives at least seventeen Aboriginals, including two lubas, were killed.

The natives threw boomerangs, which were effective at 150 yards, at the police. The constable added that the reason why the police did not shoot to wound rather than to kill was because they had no means for succouring those wounded. They were hundreds of miles from civilisation.
