The forty-sixth contest for the New Zealand Cup was staged at Riccarton this afternoon in fine weather and before a large crowd which included[people from all parts of the Dominion. Trained by R. J. Mason, Lochiel was generally regarded as one who would not see the post, and in ante-post betting the bookmakers of that time took big risks, so much so that when Lochiel won many were unable to meet their liabilities.
