QUEEN CARNIVAL CLOSES.
EVENT AT POINT CHEVALIER. I A social and dance was held in the Point Chevalier Sailing Club's Hall last evening, to bring to a close the queen carnival, organised to raise funds for the development of the Hallyburton-Johns-tone Sports Club grounds. The result of the carnival, which was announced by Mr. M. J. Coyle, chairman of trustees, is as follows: Miss A. Dunningham 55,300 votes, Miss D. Holmes 36,682 and Miss G. I. Peacock 28,968.
The sum of £511, collected during the campaign, was handed over to the trustees. The organisers, (Mrs. Donaldson and Mr. W. A. Phillips for Miss Dunningham, Mr. A. E. Schade for Miss Holmes and Mr. S. S. Crookbain for Miss Peacock) express their thanks to the public for the generous assistance that had been given.
