REPRESENTING NEW ZEALAND
NOT THE LABOUR PARTY.
ABSENCE OF MR. JORDAN.
When Mr. B. Bunn, Reform candidate for Manukau, was speaking at Panmure last night a member of the audience contradicted his statement that the absent Labour candidate, Mr. W. J. Jordan, had gone abroad to represent the New Zealand Labour party. "Mr. Jordan is not representing the Labour party—he is representing the Parliament of New Zealand," corrected the interjector.
Mr. Bunn: Mr. Jordan was selected to go to Canada as the representative of the Parliamentary Labour party. The interjector replied that members had been ciosen from both sides of the House of Representatives to attend the Empire Parliamentary Association's gatherings in Canada, and Mr. Jordan was no more representing Labour than the Government members were representing Reform. Mr. Jordan was representing the people of New Zealand. (Applause.) At the close of the meeting hearty cheers were given for Mr. Jordan by a section of those present. i
