DAYLIGHT SAVING.
FULL HOUR FOII COUNCIL STAFF. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) \\ ELLINGTON, this day. Daylight saving to the full extent of one hour is to be enjoyed by the staff of the Petone Borough Council. At its last meeting the council had before it a petition from both the outside and the inside staff, asking permission to commence work half an hour earlier so as to finish at 4.30 p.m. The council was anxious to meet the desires of the employees, but feared that, in the case of the inside staff, the public might be inconvenienced by the offiees closing before 5 p.m. It was finally decided to grant the petition of the outside staff and to give the proposal a month's trial in respect to the office staff. ~~ ~
