RECEPTION.
MRS. J. G. COATES ENTERTAINED. A reception was held yesterday afternoon in the Concert Chamber by the Reform women of Auckland to welcoir-c the wife of the Premier to the citr. Mrs. Coates was received at the entrance of the hall by the hostesses and presented with a lovely shower bouquet of pale pink roses, iris, carnation and lilies of the valley. She was charmingly attired in bronze green ring velvet and hat to match, and was escorted to the platform, where she took her seat and later in the afternoon was joined by the Premier, who made a brief speech in response to speeches of welcome given by Dr. Hilda Northcroft, Miss Melville and Mrs. Maguire. Dr. Hilda Northcroft presided over the meeting, wearing Naples blue georgette and black hat, and upon the platform were the Mayoress, Mrs. A. D. Campbell, wearing mulberry coat with mole fur collar and hat in tones of shrimp; Mrs. Maguire, patterned georgette, blue and fawn with tangerine hat, black fur wrap; Miss Melville, in fawn wrap over shrimp pink georgette; Mrs. Smythe, black and peach georgette; Mrs. Kelly, cinnamon; Mrs. Basil Cadoux, almond green ensemble suit and hat in lighter shades of green; Mrs. A. M. Ferguson, black marocain over black georgette and black hat; Mrs. E. McNair, black marocain and large hat in tones of black; Mrs. Marshall Lang, fur coat over coffee georgette and white hat; Mrs. Culpitt, brown wrap and black hat; Mrs. C. Gardner, navy blue ensemble; Mrs. White, black ensemble.

Horton, navy marocain figured and navy hat; Mrs. Edward Russell, black and white patterned georgette, brown fur coat; Lady Elliott, navy gold embroidered and black hat; Mrs. I). W. McLean, black crepe fieuri and black wrap; Mrs. Hugh McDonald, black ensemble; Miss Marion McDonald, fawn tweed ensemble; Mrs. Bush, black musquash coat over black marocain, black hat; Mrs. Tracy Inglis, black cloth coat with deep fur collar and cuffs, delphinium blue hat; Miss Basten, fawn coat and grey hat; Mrs. Carr Rollett, biscuit ensemble; Mrs. A. MeAndrew, Paisley georgette, black and fawn hat; Mrs. H. J. Atkinson, navy marocain and black hat; Mrs. Talbot, navy blue coat and mole furs; Miss Flatt, patterned marocain coat and bronze hat; Mrs. Kidd, navy marocain and coffee lace; Mrs. Keeble, sedge green wrap, black and fawn hat; Mrs. Koutley, black ensemble; Mrs. G. Phillips, light navy georgette ensemble and hat to tone; Mrs. Woolcott, navy blue marocain and navy at; Mrs. L. T. Mitchell, grey suit and' small black hat; Mrs. I. K. Wicksteed, beige georgette and beige hat; Mrs. F. Adeane. beige frock and small black hat; Mrs. Alfred Kidd, navy blue taffeta, fur wrap and small black hat; Mrs. G. Walker, black ensemble with touches of scarlet and small black hat; Mrs. Samuel, navy blue suit, white fox fur and small navy hat. During the afternoon songs were simp by Mrs. Hansard, "Slow Horse, Slow and ''Dandelions." and Mrs. Hugh Corbin, who sang " 'Come Little Leaves." Said the Spring One Day." Mrs. C. Prime accompanied.
