TOWN AND COUNTRY.
NO BOOM FOR FACTIONS,
BUSINESS MEN UNANIMOUS
A strong desire for the preservation of goodwill between the. cities, the towns, and the country districts of New Zealand was the keynote of the speeches at the luncheon which was tendered by the Hamilton Borough Council and Chamber of Commerce in Hamilton to-day to the Auckland business men who are travelling o the commerce train.
"It is not so many years ago," said the Mayor, Mr. J. R. The speaker said he regretted that in our political life the issue of 'town v. country was so often raised. (Hear, hear). "We have one common destiny," he said, "we come from one common stock, we have a beautiful country, some of the flower of British stock are" coming to the country, and it would be a dis° grace if we permitted faction to interfere with the prosperity of the land."
Ho extended a very warm welcome to the business men, and expressed the hope that the tour would do much good. Mr. F. if. Clapliam, president of the Chamber of Commerce, Mr. D. Rodie, commercial manager of the railways, and Mr. W. B. Lambie, Acting-deputy British 1 rade Commissioner, were other speakers at the luncheon.
