CARRYING A LIE.
(Australian and N.Z. Press Association.)
(Received 1.30 p.m.)
LONDON, October 22,
Viscount Ennismore, the heir of tlic Earl of Listowel, announces that hi desires to be known as Mr. W. F. Hare, his family name. "Servility is given to titles to which I object. When one is plain 'mister* one's conscience is clear. Mine is a courtesy title which is different to others. The real distinction between men is not titles, but character and distinction. I feel I have been carrying a lie about with me. lam not a man of real distinction."
Lady Listowel regards her son's decision as a purely private matter.
