SIR JOSEPH WARD.
At Sir Joseph Ward's u.."ting it was indeed a great sight to see some three thousand persons, doubtless of all shades of political opinions, rise almost to a man and receive Sff Joseph Ward's entry into the Town Hall with tha greatest acclamation that it has been my privilege to witness. As an 1 have seen many enthusiastic assemblages, bnt I have never seen anything to equal the demonstration on Tuesday night. It is doubtful™ any other statesman in New Zealand has been treated so ungratefully in the past as Joseph Ward. He is indeed a democrat ana a statesman and as Imperialistic as the greatest Imperialist that ever lived. fe W3£ CLARKE-
