THE CRY OF A BACKBLOCKER.
Why are we electors in the backblocks prohibited from hearing the campaign and platform speeches of the leaders of onr Parliamentary parties when we have radio sets in our homes ? Ido not ask that we hear the soap box orations of our '"peanut" politicians, but surely the Government shonld do everything in its power to bring before the electors, and especially before those electors whose isolation precludes them from hearing even the "soap box orations." the platforms and policies of the leaders of the parties. We are told that contentious matter must not be "put over the air." What an idiotic idea! We might with equal logic be told that our newspapers must not print contentious matter. TOM Heeney's menu, which horse won or *u scratched for the "trots." Mrs. Somebody-or-other's ideas on this or that, or any other old rubbish can be "put over the air," but the news of vital and present interest, the aspirations and policies of our lawmakers-to-be we must not hear because they may say something "contentious," and we poor isolated mortal* "see red" and smash our loud speakers. Can anyone tell me WHY?
