AUCKLAND SUBURBS.
LABOR CANDIDATE'S RECORD.
MR. MASON'S STEWARDSHIP.
An outline of his three years' work and experience in the House of Representatives, as member for the district, was given by Mr. H. G. R. Mason, Labour candidate for Auckland suburbs electorate, on Saturday night. He regarded the three years as an apprenticeship, which would fit him for better service in the future, if again returned.
Mr. Mason criticised the remarks and promises of his Reform opponent, Sir James Gunson, drawing attention to the fact that Sir James had not only left the district but the country during the period between the Eden by-election and a date not long before the opening of the general election campaign this year. The chairman, Mr. W. H. Potter, spoke in appreciative terms of Mr. Mason's services to the district and the country in the House of Representatives. Whatever the political colour of those present, they all had to admit, said Mr. Potter, Mr. Mason had lived up to his promises to do his utmost for the district. The meeting. which was in the Oratia School, carried a vote of thanks for Mr. Mason's work, and more particularly in relation to Bome matters of concern to Oratia.
