A MELBOURNE SENSATION,

MELBOURNE, this day.
A sensation has been caused in boxing circles over the American. Van Reeden's statement relative to the match against the Englishman- Kid Socks, last Saturday, which the referee declared no contest, being dissatisfied with the genuineness of the American's performance. The latter, in an affidavit, confessed that he agreed to lose the fight in the fifth round, he to receive a percentage of the winnings which a third person, whom he named, expected to ?ain by backing the Englishman. Van Reeden's contract with the Stadium bas been terminated and a passage has treen secured on the Niagara for Amenta from Sydney.
