The Soviet Government, it is officially stated, did reply stating that "expecting the British Government would wish to transfer to the Motherland the bodies of the victims of the L 55 the Soviet authorities from the yery beginning took appropriate measures and were careful to preserve the personal belongings of victims in order to hand them over to their relatives."
