PLUNGED OVER BANK.
TRUCK LAKDS ON BEACH. DRIVER ESCAPES LIGHTLY. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) THAMES, this day. The Bteering-gear of a light motor truck failed •when it was travelling along the Thames coast road at mid-day yesterday, and it plunged over a bank and somersaulted on to the beach and rocks 18 feet below. A roadman working nearby was astonished to see the driver, Geo. Reid, crawl out from underneath the wreckage of the cab. Luckily the tide was out, otherwise the truck would have plunged into water deep enough to cover it. It was afterwards towed along the beach for repairs. Mr. Reid is suffering only from shock and minor injuries to one leg.
