BROADCASTING POLITICS.
PROTEST BY FARMERS. KEEP THEM OFF THE AIR. (By Telegraph,—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. "That in view of tie fact that tlie New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company is financially interested in the New Zealand Radio Broadcasting Company, we urge that the Broadcasting Company be strictly impartial in according facilities to leaders of political parties or other organisations to broadcast their views." The ah ove was a remit by the Huntlv West Suppliers' Committee to the annual conference of suppliers of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company at Hamilton this afternoon. An amendment was moved by Mr. Goodwin: "That all political speeches be kept off the air." Mr. Scott, an official listener of the Broadcasting Company, said he had written to the company forwarding a copy of the remit, and the reply stated that the company's agreement distinctly stated that the radio shall not be need for disseminating propaganda of a controversial nature. Mr. Furniss, the mover of the remit, pointed out that the Prime Minister had given a purely political speech over the wireless, while a representative of the Country party was refused permission to put his party's views. The amendment, that political speeches be kept off the air altogether, was carried.
