AIDING FARMERS' WIVES
MRS. POLSON'S ORGANISATION HONORARY HOUSEKEEPERS. HELP IN TIME OF SICKNESS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAXGANUI, this day. The women's branch of the Farmers' Union, of which Mrs. W. J. Poison is the head, has, without seeking the light of publicity, been doing a large amount of very useful work in the Dominion in assisting farmers' wives in cases of sickness, etc. During last year some 230 families were assisted and received visits from the organisation's housekeepers. The organisation has 22 housekeepers, who go out on philanthropic missions at a moment's notice. Nearly all these workers act in an honorary position, but Hamilton, Taumarunui, Invercargill and Gore have salaried housekeepers for their branches. The Taumarunui district has a splendid record, for every farmer's wife in the district .has linked up with the organisation. At the present time Wanganui, with 300 members, is the largest branch.
