GRUESOME DISCOVERY.
FINDING OF BAST'S BODY.
MYSTERY STILL UNSOLVED.
Despite persistent efforts on the part of the police authorities, no light has been thrown on the mystery surrounding the finding of the dead bodr of a baby in a dress basket at the left lnggaga office at the central railway station, in April last.
The gruesome discovery was made when officials of the Railway Department opened up the basket, which had bees left for an unduly long time, and had no label attached to it.
The body was in a decayed condition, but the opinion was advanced that tile child had never breathed. Snbaeqoent inquiries, it Is understood, have substantiated tbi9 view.
The coroner, Mr. W. R. McKean, 8.M., who has been investigating the matter, stated this morning that the coronial inquiry into the affair would be finished up to-morrow morning, when medical evidence would be taken.
