THEFTS AT RANGIRIRI.
TOUWG MAX ADMITS OFTHOH TO BE SENTENCED AT SUPREME COURT. Several bursaries that occurred at Rangiriri were cleared tip -with the arrest at Pirongia oil August 4 bf John Gibb Hastings, aged 20. This morning Hastings appeared at the Police Court, where he pleaded guilty to charges of breaking and entering the shop of H. W. Pulham, at Rangiriri, on June 19, and stealing cigarettes and money to the value of £1, and also a quantity of beef and money valued at 12/8 from the shop of L. 8. Barradoogh. In a statement produced by Detective J. A. Moon, Haetingm said he had no fixed place of abode. He left Auckland on July 6 last and, after sleeping In a shed at Papa toe toe, travelled to Rangiriri by cars that picked him up, arriving with 2/ in his possession. He admitted committing both offences, but stated that he was under the influence of liquor at the time. He was quite sure, however, that he did not remove any beef from the butcher's shop ha entered. Accused was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
