OBITUARY.

MR. P. A. LORKING. The late Mr. Percy Alexander Lorking, whose death took place in the Auckland hospital, was the second son of Mr. W. H. Lor king, of Grey Lynn. He left Auckland in the Eighth Reinforcement to join up as ambulance driver in the A.S.C. He toiw much service in nearly four years' fighting, being passed in the war. He fought in France, Belgium and Germany, and was with the army of occupation in Cologne. Mr. Lorking died suddenly after a week in the Auckland hospital. His brother Sidney was shot through the shoulder at Anzac Cove, and his eldest brother, Walter, was wounded in the navy fighting in the first Boxer war in China.

MRS. K. DUFFIN

An old colonist in the person of Mrs. K. Duffin, rclict of the late Mr. Hugh Duffin, died on the 10th inst. She wa»s an active worker in the of charity, and a parishioner of St. Patrick's Cathedral. She was a native of Valentia, County Kerry, Ireland, and was held in the highest esteem by all with whom she came in contact. She leaves thre» sons and two daughters. A requiem was celebrated at the Cathedral by Father Bradley, assisted by Fathers Buxton, administrator, and McKeefry, while a number of city and suburban priests were present. The interment took place at Waikumete.

MR. R. CAREY.

Mr. Robert Carey died at Otahuhu yesterday, aged 82. He was born at Blairgowrie, Scotland, and came to New Zealand in 1863 with his parents. They took up land at Waiheke Island, wh'sre Mr. R. Carey married Miss Jane Hunter, second daughter of Captain Hunter, of Man-o-War Bay. Later Mr. Carey was sheep farming for many years at Port Charles, Coromandel. As a young man he saw service during the war against the Maoris. He retired from farming, and came to live in Auckland about seven years ago. The last two years were spent at Otahuhu. He is survived by Mrs. Carey and the following children: Mrs. (. larke Charles Kensington, of Tauranga; Mr. Robert Carey, of Port Charles; Captain VV. Carey, of the Harbour Board staff at Auckland; and Mr. Henry Carey, of Puni, near Pukekohe. The interment, took place this afternoon.

MR. W. S. TRAYES.

A well-known resident of Devonport, Mr. William Stephen Trayes died yesterday, aged 66 years. Mr. Trayes was a son of Mr. James Trayes, and was born at Ponsonby. The father was one of the founders of the Devonport Bowling Club, of which Mr. VV. S. Trayes was president at the time of his death Mr. Trayes was in partnership with liis brother, Mr. J. H. Trayes, building contractor, of Hobson Street. He was a past master of the Masonic Lodge at Devonport. Mr. Trayes is survived by four sons and Ihrce dairrbters.

MR. C. A. SEAGER,

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Mr. Charles Allen Seager, a prominent Christchurch business man, is dead, aged 6t> years. He was well-known in Auckland and Wellington, and was one of the first electrical engineers in New Zealand. Mr. Seager was born in Christchurch, and was apprenticed in the railway engineering branch. He left the Government service, and was for some time in charge of Messrs. Bannatyne and Company's electrical plant. At the industrial exhibition in Christchurch in 189(5, Mr. Seager made a, fine display of electric lighting. Afterwards he was manager at Christchurch for the firm of Messrs. Turnbull and Jones.

• Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Mr. Stanley Wilkinson, a director of Rattray and Son, Ltd., and president of he Canterbury Employers' Association, rtied while on a visit to New South wales, after a serious illness. He was •>2 years of age.
