"BLEAK HOUSE" EVENING.

READiNGS AND SKETCH.

The fortnightly meeting of the Auckland branch of the Dickens Fellowship was held on Thursday in the Y.W.C.A. Business Girls' Club room, Union Buildings, when the subject for study was "Bleak House." Mr. F. S. T. Little viatpresident, presided over a large attendance of members and friends. He delivered a critical review of 'Bleak House" and its principal characters, supplemented by readings of the descriptions of the Court of Chancery and Miss Flite's apartments. Other readings were given as follows: '"Mrs. Pardiggle," Mrs. Choyce; "The Death of Jo," Mrs. Preston Chambers; "The Death of Mr. Tulkinghorn," Mr. C. T. C. Watson; "Mr. Guppy Pleads his Case," Mr. G. G. Grant. The concluding item on the programme was a short sketch presented in costume entitled "Mrs. Snagsby's Guests." The cast was as follows: "Mr. Snagsby," Mr. C. Kidson; "Mrs. Snagsby," Miss M. "Robinson; "Mr. Chadband," Dr. Kenneth Gordon; "Mrs. Chadbahd," Mrs. Kenneth Gordon; "Jo," Master G. Linthwaite; "Guster," Mrs. J. D'Authreau. "Dickens and America" has been selected as the subject for the next meeting.
