PAPAKURA ORPHANS' CLUB.

The first ladies' evening of the Papakura Orphans' Club was held last evening in the Paragon Theatre, there being an attendance of over 300 present. A very pleasant and enjoyable evening was passed, a very high class programme being submitted by visiting and local artists. The president (Bro. W. K. Francis) presided over the attendance of brothers and sisters, and extended a very hearty and cordial welcome to the ladies. A very excellent programme, submitted by outside artists from sister clubs, was rendered, a feature of the evening being the excellent humour provided by Bro. Arthur Yates, of the Devonport Club. Other artists who assisted were Bro. Jim Lonnigan, Bros. Duncan Black and Claude Suisted. Bro. Stan Pritchard, Bro. W. Allen, and the local artists who assisted were the orchestra and Bro. Chris Searell, of the Papakura Club, who provided some excellent humour. After the programme a short dance was held, which added greatly to the evening's entertainment, the orchestra providing some excellent dance music. Amongst those present were: Mesdames W. K.
