SUPREME COURT SENTENCES
BIGAMISTS PROM ENGLAND. "HAS GOT TO BE STOPPED." WELLINGTON, this day. A number of prisoners were sentenced by Mr. Justice Reed in the Supreme Court to-day. James Albert Michael McMahon (36), for bigamy was sentenced to eighteen months' hard labour. His Honor said: "We are having cases from time to time of people coming out from England and deceiving women with regard to their marriage state. It has got to be stopped."
William John Thomas Whallev (30), for forgery and uttering at Auckland and Gisborne, was sentenced to two years' probation 011 the special condition of his taking out a prohibition order and renewing it, paying costs, and making restitution.
Ralph Russell Lunn (21), for theft from hiß father at Palmerston North, was ordered three years' Borstal. Walter John Hamilton (47), breaking, entering and theft at Nelson, two years' imprisonment and declared an habitual criminal.
Horatio Martiner (33), breaking, entering and theft at New Plymouth, two years' imprisonment.
Cecil Francis (42), indecent assault at Wangqnui, seven years' imprisonment and declared an habitual criminal.
Marcus Alfred Stapleton Mouldey (25), breaking &nd entering at night with intent to commit a crime at Palmerston North, three years' imprisonment.
Arthur William Haskoll, forgery and uttering bogus orders at Wanganui, two years' probation, ordered to pay £13 costs, and to contribute £10 towards restitution.
