OTAHUHU KINDERGARTEN.
For some time certain Otahuhu ladies have interested themselves in the proposed establishment of a free kindergarten. After considerable preliminary work a final meeting was held on Wednesday afternoon, over which the Mayor, Mr. R. B. Todd, presided, and at which Mrs. C. E. McGuire delivered an address on the objects of the meeting. Mrs. McGuire said she anticipated no difficulty in obtaining a Government subsidy re finance and hoped that a building of their own would soon be provided. Mrs. McGuire congratulated the ladies who started the movement and appealed to the parents to support the school and the movement, and to help keep down expenses. "The only way to make a world good," she said, "'is to begin with the children. Mrs. McGuire gave interesting reminiscences of her travels in Germany, where she studied the subject. She made an appeal to mothers to form a committee of their own and help the work of the main committee. On the motion of Mr. Todd, a hearty vote of thanks was carried to Mrs. McGuire for her interesting address.
