Interference With The Salt Administration. INSTRUCTIONS FROM NANKING. (British Official Wireless.) (Received 12 noon.) RUGBY, June 15. It is reported that the Nanking authorities have issued instructions to the Salt Administration in Tientsin temporarily stopping all payments and ordering the funds to be temporarily deposited with Chinese banks for collection on their behalf. The Salt Administration was created under the international agreement as security for foreign obligations. Loans secured on it a.e the Anglo-French loan for £5,000,000, of 1908, the Hukwang Railway loan, for £6,000,000, of 1911, and the Crisp loan, for £5,000,000, of 1912, secured on the surplus revenues of the Administration and the reorganisation loan of 1930.

Chinese Minister At Washington In Difficult Position. STATUS NOT RECOGNISED. (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) (Received 9 a.m.) MONTREAL, June 15. The United Press authoritatively declares that the Minister for China j> 4 Washington, Sao-ke Alfred Sze, sur rendered his status and privileges as an accredited diplomatic agent when he accepted appointment by the National*** Government as its representative to the United States.
It is said that in future fie will have no official standing as far ar. the United States Government is concerned, at least until the United States recogniscs the Nationalist regime. It is indicated, however, that the Department in tho meantime will continue to co-operate with him on a personal basis.
