BUS AND LORRY.
COLLISION AT CORNER. TWO MEN RECEIVE INJURIES. TRAM SERVICE DISORGANISED. A collision between a motor bus bound for Te Papapa and a motor truck driven by Mr, E. A. Martin, of St. Helier s Bay Road, Panmure, occurred at the intersection of the Great South and Market Roads about a-quarter past eight this morning. Mr. Martin and a companion. Mr. G. S. Mor>e, also of St. Helier s Bay Road, were taken by the St. .John Ambulance to the Auckland Hospital. The driver was the only occupant of the bus, and he escaped uninjured. llie truck was proceeding towards Newmarket, and was practically across the intersection when the collision occurred. It struck the left-hand side 01 the bus, which was turning from the Great South Road into Market Road. Only slight damage was done to the bus, but the truck was very badlv smashed, and a crane had to be sent for to lift it oil the inward set of tram rails, where it came to rest after the collision. Mr. Martin received several fractured ribs, and his companion injuries to his left hand. The trarr. service was disorganised through the wreckage on the rails. This inconvenienced a greater number of persons than it would usually have done, as many who travel to the city by train from the suburban stations on the south line had left the train at Remuera owing to the hold-up on the railway, and were intending to come into the city by tram. As soon as the truck was removed, the tram service was resumed.
