While a motor cyclist was having the tank of his machine filled at a bowser pump last night the petrol caught fire from an acetylene lamp on the cycle. The cyclist picked up the connecting pipe and flung it in order to save the cycle. The pipe, with flames flaring from the nozzle, hit Ernest Maitlar.d Chainey, the bowser attendant, and severely burned one of his arms. He was taken to hospital.
