Hurried Operation In French Hospital. AUSTRALIAN WIFE ATTENDS. (Australian Press Assn.—United Service.) (Received 9.30 a.m.) PARIS, May 27. The Rajah of Pudukota, H.H. Martand Bhairava Tondiman Bahadur, was seriously ill after his arrival from London and he was taken to the American hospital at Neuilly. An X-ray examination confirmed an intestinal obstruction and two successful operations followed. His recovery is hoped for. The Ranee, who was formerly Miss Molly Fink, of Melbourne, hastened from Cannes and tho Rajah's son from London. Both were admitted to see the patient.
Ihe Rajah of Pudukota was born in 1875, and crowned in 1913. Two years later he married Esnie Mary Sorrett, youngest daughter of the late Mr. W. Fink, M.A., LL.D., Melbourne, Australia. He has one son. He rules a State of 1179 square miles, which contains a population of 426,813, which State from immemorial has been ruled by the Toudiman dynasty. The Rajah has granted his people a representative assembly for consultative and legislative purposes.
