WHITSUN HOLIDAYS. Heavy Continental Air Traffic. SEASIDE ROUTES CROWDED. (British Official Wireless.) (Received 12.30 p.m.) RUGBY, May 27. The Whitsuntide holiday traffic which began last night when the roads to the country and seaside were crowded with motor ears and coaches was exceptionally heavy today.
Fine, warm weather set in following a prolonged, sunless and rainy period. On the railways many trains ran in duplicate and triplicate.
A feature of yesterday's traffic was the large number of Continental bookings. While the vast majority used steamer services, many travelled by air and the entire fleet of Imperial Airways was brought into use to cope with the passengers. Forty air liners of various nationalities were required at the Croydon station to cope with Continental traffic.
