WAIPA COUNTY. At tht! statutory annual meeting of the Waipa County Council Cr. C. S. Mucky was unanimously re-elected chairman. The cost of administration was 7/11. representing i ..'J per cent of the total receipts.
WHAKATANE
At the annual meeting of the Wliakatanel County Council the chairman':; honorarium I for the ensuing year was fixed at *100. A| committee was appointed to purchase | another motor road grader. Mr. A. McLean, | in a letter, pointed out the r.ecesMty for providing a water supply for his part of the Kangitaiki. lie requested the council to permit its engineer tu jro into th-» question and devise a scheme. It was decided that Mr. McLean be asked to state what lands it wa*» proposed to include in the area. Lists were prepared of the estimated county expenditure on main highways, maiu roads and riding roads for the ensuing year, the proposed expenditure beins : Main hiv'taways £57~><>. main ronds £1105. and riding roads £2S4<. Cr. Peebles moved that the main highways ;• nd main roads estimates be reduced by 10 per ceni (£750). Cr. Baird proposed as an amendment that the main highways estimate be reduced to -0 per cent, and main road; hy 10 per cent. On being put to the mcetiujr during the temporary absence of Cr. Addison, Crs. Baird. Bart and McCracken voted for the amendment, and the chairman. Cn». Peebles and Witthans for the motion. The chairmr.n gave his casting vote for the motion. The riding estimates were adopted. "
