RACING AT MANGERE. gale affects the times. The road racing season was advanced"* another stage on Saturday when the Manukau Amateur Cycling Club held a junior and a senior race, and the Auckland Athletic and Cycling Club put over a 14-mile open handicap. Weather conditions were against fast times, and were also against good work being done by contestants. In the senior amateur race as in the open cash race, the front markers filled the principal places. Xotable absentees in both codes were M. P. Byrnes, J. H. Wade and S. Hayes.

Forty-one riders started ln this race a ~ final result reflected great credit on behalf of the handicapper. The placed men raced for the finishing line ln a bunch, the winner. Pinker, clearing out over the last 50yds and winning easily. The second and third riders to finish were within a length of each other, with a big field of 20 others right close up. H. Dwight s finish in the back division was good. He left the others standing still when it came to sprinting.
AUCKLAND CLUB.
14-MILE EVENT. W. Arrhcr, 2m .'sos 1 N. Hedley, 2m 30s 2 J. Lindau, lh 30s " 3 Time 38.33. Fastest time, K. J. Mathieson. 30s. 37.23. The limit riders never left the issue in doubt. Pacing each other splendidly, they fought out the finish with plenty to spare F. Prior rode a great race alone, but had no chance of picking up the 30s gap on Storey and Mathleson.
