YACHT SQUADRON "AT HOME."
A most pleasant function was held in the clubrooms of the Royal New JZealand Yaclit Squadron on Saturday afternoon, when the commodore and members held an "At Home." Masses of autumn foliage and palms made effective decoration, and during the afternoon dancing and billiard competitions were enjoyed. Much interest was displayed in the various trophies belonging to the squadron, and also in the photographs on the walls. A feature of the afternoon was enjoyment of the beautiful view of the harbour.
With great taste, and without the aid of a feminine hand, the committee had decorated the tables in the dining room where tea was served. Orange-coloured Iceland poppies, violets, irises and golden-headed chrysanthemums were arranged in silver tropliv bowls, and iu the centre was the Hardie trophy, a yacht in full sail, sailing among a sea of flowers. Whilst tea was served enjoyable selections were played by an orchestra.
