ROTO'S MEMORIAL. Heisler Home In Hurdles. (By Telegraph.—Special t<> "Star.") CANTERBURY, this day. The Amberley Racing Club's annual meeting is being held in dull weather, on a firm track. There is a large attendance. Royal Land was a strong favourite for the Brackenfield Hurdles. Heisler made the early running, Oriflamb joining .in after going five furlongs. Royal Land moved up at the home turn, but Heisler led to the straight, beating Oriflamb easily by two lengths. Royal Land was two lengths away, with Rangiawliao a moderate fourth, -and Tarleton last. Twelve scratchings reduced the novice field to nine. Solgele was a slightly better favourite than Greyfinch. These two had the race to themselves. Solgele led all the way, and just lasted long enough to beat Greyfinch by half a length. Merivale finished fast two lengths away, with Scrambler and Despot close up. The Chief Event. The eleven accentors started for the G. B. Starky Memorial Handicap. Battle Colours was a hot favourite, but after being prominent for seven furlongs faded out, finishing last. Amor and Bronstell led Moratorium and Rotor till near the straight, when Rotor drew out from a buclied field. Rotor won comfortably by a length, Moratorium boating Amor by a head, with Sir Roy a neck away. Then came Tliorndale and Fresco. The winner's performance was a good one.
