THE HONEY INDUSTRY.
SOUTH AUCKLAND BEE KEEPERS. A SUCCESSFUL YEAR. (From Our Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. More honey is being consumed in New Zealand each year, according to the annual report of the South Auckland Beukeepers' Association, presented at the annual meeting at Hamilton yesterday. Mr. T. Pearson presided. The report showed that the past season had been a successful one, most of the members having secured good average crops.
Good displays had been staged at the Waikato Winter Show, and exhibitors were asked to increase tlie size of their exhibits. The points prize at the show had been won outright by Messrs Pearson Bros.
It was pleasing to note thai many thousand jars of honey were being consumed annually in the Dominion. The fact that the consumption was increasing indicated that the value of honey as a food was being more widely recognised.
! The balance-sheet showed a small deflicit, and members were urged to pav j up their subscriptions.
Mr. A. H. Davies was appointed delegate to the National Conference.
The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr. W. Trownson; vice-presidents, Messrs. T. Pearson and W. Schmidt: committee. Messrs. T. J. Mannix, C. F. Horn, E. W. Sage, T. Winter, G. Hall, A. Pearson and A. Jamieson; secretary, Mr. A. H. Davies.
High praise was given Mr. T. Pearson for his long service in the interests of the association.
