WIFE SECURES DIVORCE.
MAX'S PETITION FAILS.

Among the divorce petitions which came before Mr. Justice Adams in the Supreme Court yesterday was one by a man who had been convicted of bigamy. He wanted to divorce his wife on the grounds that she had deserted him. The parties were Frederick William Seaton, engineer, of Papakura, and Olive Elizabeth' Seaton. The wife entered a crosspetition, on the grounds of desertion and adulterv.
Petitioner was not present to support his claim.
Mrs. Seaton said she married Seaton in 1917 and they lived in Napier for about two months. Prior to the marriage she was a widow with one child, and he a widower with two children. In two months her husband gave her only £4 for maintenance. They agreed to separate until he could afford to maintain a home. Her husband went to Palmerston North and had never gone back to her. In Palmerston North in 1921 she pave evidence against him in a case in which he pleaded guilty to a charge of going through the form of marriage with another woman, thereby committing bi<ramv. He was sentenced to three vears' imprisonment.
A decree nisi was granted, to be insd* absolute after three months.
