OBITUARY.
DR. RUDOLF HEINZE.

The death occurred in Saxony to-dav of Dr. Rudolf Heinze, Leader of the German People s party. His death was due to heart failure after the completion of his election campaign.
Born at Oldenburg in July, 1865, the late Rudolf Heinze, after completing his legal studies, rose to a responsible position in the Saxon judicial service. During the he held office as .Under-Sec-retary of State in the Turkish Ministry of Justice (1916-18), until lie was recalled to become Saxon Minister of Justice, which post he held until the revolution in November. He was the first politician within living memory holding openly Liberal views to become a Minister in Saxony, and Dr. Heinze was one of the National Liberal leaders there. From 1907 to 1911 he sat in the Reichstag and from 1915 to 1916 in the Saxon Diet. r After the revolution Dr. Heinze was one of the founders of the German People's 1 artj, and as such was elected to the National Assembly and the new Reichsta ff. hen the Coalition was broken up. Dr. Heinze was entrusted in the critical daj s of June, 1920. with the formation ot a new Cabinet. However, as a strong believer in the "Great Coalition" he dechnel to enter the Government, but accepted the Ministry of Justice in Herr Fehrenbach's Cabinet. At the end of October, 1923, in consequence of the disturbances in Saxony, Dr. Heinze was sent there as commissioner of the central Government. and ivith the aid of the Reiehswehr, under General Muller, abolished the Socialist-Communist Cabinet of Herr Zeigner.
