SET FOR TE RAP*.
THE FINAL GALLOPS. A QUIET MORNING'S WORK. With a mnpber of Ellerslie-trained horses already left for Te there was not a great deal doing on tro track this morning, and the majority of those who were worked woe not asked to gallop at top. All the galloping was done on No. 1 grass, which was in good order. The First Pair. The first to work fast were the Storey Memorial Handicap candidates, Corinax and Modest Boy, who were associated over seven furlongs. Oammick was on Corinax, and Tremain on Modest Boy. They jumped off together, running the first furlong in 13s, two in 265, halfmile in 525. At this stage Corinax drew away from Modest Boy, and finished about four lengths in front, running the full seven in 1.31 2-5. It was an impressive piece of work on the part of Corinax. Respirator, on the outside, appeared to be going better than Brampton at the end of a gallop over six furlongs in 1.18 4-5. Ludlow rode Respirator, and J. Buchanan, the trainer, was on Brampton. The horses went very fast over the first half of the journey, covering the three furlongs in 38 2-ss. Maiden Goes Well. The maiden, Parfait Amour, with Ludlow in the saddle, jogged round to the five-furlong post and then jumped away at top. He ran the first three furlongs in 38s, and the five in 1.4. The son of Romeo finished well. Tidal (Cantmick), Hyde Park (Ryan) and Winsome Girl (Wiggins) were companions in a six-furlong task. They kept in close company till a furlong from home, when Winsome Girl began to drop back* Tidal, on the outside, was going stronger than Hyde Park at the finish, the journey occupying 1.19 2-5. Bombarder had a slight advantage over Vallar at the end of five furlongs, which took 1.4 1-5. Not Ridden Oat.. Princess Ronnie, who ran the best gallop on Tuesday morning, was not ridden out this morning. Her task was six furlongs, and, allowed to gallop well within herself all the way, she registered 1.18 2-5. Wiggins was in the saddle, and is riding her on Saturday. Neither Lady's Boy nor Guide was bustled unduly to ran six furlongs in 1.18 4-5. Blue Spear, alone, got to the end of the same journey in 1.22 3-5, going evenly throughout. The Morning's Best. The credit of registering the beet gallop of the morning went to the Archiestown mare, Archeno. With a light boy, J. Day, on top, she jumped away at the six-furlong peg and came home in 1.16 4-5. The brown mare showed a lot of speed over the first half of the trip, and finished up her task well. Cynthia N. moved very freely throughout a mile gallop done In 1.47 3-5. She appears to be very well at present. Good Boy was timed to run half a mile in 51 4-ss. Royal Tea was worked on the tan, sprinting five furlongs in 1.8. The Jumpers. Four horses were schooled over hurdles during the morning. Marble Mount (Mephan) was sent over a couple of pony hurdles, and a like task was 1 allotted to Loyal Lad (Williams). Spalmore (Sharkey) gave a good display over two schooling hurdles, and Royal Trek (Sharkey) jumped the stone wall twice, shaping satisfactorily for a beginner.
