BETTER ADVERTISED ABROAD
MAJ.-GEN. SLOAN'S OPINION.
anxious inquiries concerning thei.ijpiount of snow ?n the ranges, and lest the fishing season sihould haV6' already closed, Major-General J. Macfarlanc Sloan, who w attached to the- Southern Command headquarters, Poona, India, arrived on the Marama this morning. He is accompanied by Mrs. Sloan.
Major-General Sloan was with the Army of Occupation in Germany, after concluding his war service, and was later on the headquarters staff in London. He has been in India only a little more than a year.
"Your South Island is much better advertised abroad than the North Islanu," the major-general told a Pressman. "Nearly all the tourist literature I have seen related to the attractions of the South Island. New Zealand is becoming increasingly well known abroad." ®
Major-General Sloan and Mrs. Sloan are going to Tokaanir for the fishing, and will visit the best of the Dominion's scenic resorts before leaving on May 22.
